Factors Associated with Level of Physical Activity After Minor Stroke

ObjectivesTo explore factors from the acute phase, and after three 12 months, associated with level of self-reported physical activity months a minor ischemic stroke National Institutes Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score ? 3 in persons 70 years or younger.Materials methodIn this longitudinal cohort study patients were recruited consecutively two units. Activity measured sets questions addressing average number frequency (times exercising each week), intensity, duration (the time), sum was constructed. The association between sociodemographic factors, NIHSS, body mass index, balance, neuropsychiatric symptoms explored using multiple linear regression.ResultsThis included 101 patients, mean age (SD) 55.5 (11.4) years, NIHSS median (Q1, Q3) 0.0 (0.0, 1.0), 20 % female. Multiple regression analyses showed sick leave status at onset, balance anxiety, depression, apathy, fatigue to be stroke.ConclusionWe found that pre-stroke leave, post-stroke one year stroke. This might importance when giving information about deciding follow-up.
